The mission of First Baptist Church is to help lead everyday people in becoming effective, wholehearted followers of Jesus.
Three words are at the heart of what we do. They are:
ENJOY - EQUIP - ENGAGE
ENJOY -
(God)
Through our worship [Worship the LORD with reverence and rejoice with trembling. Psalm 2.11]
Through His word [Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you…Colossians 3.16a. Your word is a
lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119.105]
Through doing His will [If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have
kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. John 15.10]
(Each Other)
In Christian love [By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one
another. John 13.35]
In unity [Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to
house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and
having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who
were being saved. Acts 2.46-47]
EQUIP –
In our gifts [And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and
some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building
up of the body of Christ. Ephesians 4.11-12]
In the Word [All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for
training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
ENGAGE -
As witnesses […you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and
even to the remotest part of the earth. Acts 1.8]
In making disciples [Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the I commanded you…
In defense of the gospel [but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a
defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness
and reverence; 1 Peter 3.15]
With love [But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your
reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and
evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Luke 6.35-36]
